Spring

Winter has passed, and almost without us realising it, spring begins. The mornings soften, the earth warms, and tiny signs of life begin appearing everywhere—the first green shoots, returning birds, new leaves and flowers opening beneath the changing sky.

Spring is the season of awakening and renewal. It is a time to clear away what has grown old, prepare the soil, plant new seeds and make space for what is ready to emerge. Across Southern Africa, the return of warmth and rain has long been watched closely, bringing with it signs for planting, gathering, travelling, working and celebrating.

Through our Urglaawe lens, we explore the observances and traditions that accompany this turning of the Wheel, alongside the seasonal lore of the land itself: rain signs, flowering plants, animals, birds, gardening wisdom and the first stirrings of abundance.

Spring also invites participation. It is a season for opening windows, tending the garden, washing away winter's dust, planting something with intention and noticing what is beginning to change within ourselves.

Come outside. The garden is waking up.
